About Me

Hello!

I’m Ukrainian artist.

My name is Viktoria Lubov and I’ve been living on this planet, exploring and manifesting myself in different forms of art since 1989. I was born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where I also studied graphic design in the academy of arts and design. That’s where I started to shape my individuality in my drawings.

I had been drawing with a simple black pen for many years and I have a lot of drawings left from that time. I was fascinated by lines and how they can convey the character and be alive. Line is the beginning for me.

Later I started to animate my characters with watercolor, trying collages and a variety of other techniques.

After graduating I didn’t keep up my design career, I was more into drawing and painting, and my design education only helped me carry out my plans and ideas.

Later I started my own business as an artist. I created interior decorations with the prints of my paintings. I liked the idea of drawing and painting something for myself and using it for work later. Many of my works were sold to private collections all over the world. This way I turned my life into endless creative process.

My works have been changing and becoming more extensive over time as I add new techniques.

My paintings are always entwined with my personal experience, they have become an essential part of my life. I barely title them as most of the times it’s difficult to put things that you only can sense into words. My art is blank verse, lyric, speechless poetry...

Even if a painting gets a title I always leave viewers the freedom because after finishing a piece I become a viewer myself and it’s such a magical moment when subconscious creates its own stories. Everyone just sees something they have inside themselves.

I don’t limit myself when choosing materials, it always depends on my mood, just like with music. But for many years watercolor has been my preference, it resonates with me.

I like using it freely, not in the classical way. I like feeling it. And it conveys my attitude and character in the best way. I love its complex colors: deep green, blue, black, the shapes of red. I like using symbols, certain secret signs that are clear for everyone who’s willing to see.
